If there's a main character in the story of fog, he's an omnipresent narrator like Karl. Taking good fog photos is challenging. Fog saps most of the color from a scene, so monochrome photography seems like an obvious choice. However, fog also diffuses light so extremely that photos have very little contrast. Throw Ansel Adam's famous zone system out the window. You're left with setting and mood. That's what this photo is about.
