Protests

Protest photos are not art. But they do tell important stories. They need to document objective reality, usually to the detriment of beauty. Good photojournalism is both truthful and beautiful. It favors being in the right place at the right time with the right equipment. This is rare even if you carefully prepare. That’s why it’s so rewarding. These photos are of average Bay Area people protesting abuse by those with power. I’m not claiming these photos are beautiful; they are just the best I can do.
